The Effective Way to Remove Pimples

Contrary to what most people believe, popping a pimple does not solve the problem by a long shot. It can actually even complicate things. In what follows, we'll see what can happen if zits are not treated suitably and we'll also discuss better measures you can take to get rid of them.

One danger is that squeezing a pimple can damage the skin and scar it. Acne scars are sometimes permanent, but even temporary ones can take up to a couple of years to heal completely.

Another danger is that most of the fluid and bacteria inside the pimple might get pushed towards the deeper layers of the skin. The problem aggravates and the zit becomes more painful. This is possible because what we see above the surface of the skin is actually less than half of the total volume of the pimple. It is very improbable that we'll be able to extract all the fluid out of a zit, since we can only act on the surface. By using our nails to pop a zit, we risk adding even more microorganisms to it, as our hands are, most of the times, not as clean as we think.

If you cant wait for the pustule to disappear without your interference, you should at least wait till it matures. At that time, the pus inside the pustule is already closer to the surface of the skin, waiting to come out. If the pimple is not mature yet, the issues discussed in the previous paragraph may become a problem, not to mention that it further irritates the skin.

Be sure to wash your hands very well, preferably by using an antiseptic solution. The use of sterile gloves or some other sterile material is not an unnecessary precaution.

To avoid scarring the skin, you can use a long tipped needle to prick the pimple. The needle too has to be sterilized in advance. A simple way to do that is to hold it in a flame a little. After that, you can extract the fluid by using some clean gauze. When you notice blood or a colorless fluid coming out of the pustule, it means you have extracted all the pus.

From that moment on, you should avoid touching the pimple. At most, you can apply some ointment to speed the healing of the skin or some bactericidal solution such as benzoyl peroxide.

Dont start popping new zits before washing your hands well again. Otherwise, you might spread germs from the first one to other parts of your skin.

If the zit appears to be unyielding (usually you can tell this before trying to prick it, because it has a harder appearance than other pimples), then you can soften it by using warm salt water. Use a sterile gauze for applying it on the zit for a few minutes. After that, you can try the procedure described above.
